For the sixth-straight year, 100 percent of all current UNCG student-athletes made a gift to their team’s enrichment fund as
part of the True Spartan Challenge. UNCG is among a small number of schools across the country that have accomplished this level of dedication to their programs and Spartan student-athletes have made a bold statement about their commitment to UNCG Athletics.
The Spartan Club is now asking all of our athletic alumni to make this same level of commitment and show their support of UNCG Athletics in our True Spartan Challenge: Alumni Edition.
This Challenge rallies all former student-athletes to make a donation back to their team. At the end of the Challenge, the Spartan Club will provide bonus funds for team's 2019-20 operating budgets, with $2,000 to the men's and women's team that have the highest number of athletic alumni donors and $2,000 to the men's and women's teams with the highest alumni participation percentage. $500 will also be
awarded to the men's and women's teams that finish second in number of donors and percentage.
All donations will be made through the individual sport enrichment funds. Gifts to the enrichment funds are split with 80% going directly to the sport for the coaching staff to use for program enhancements and 20% going to the Athletic Scholarship Fund, which helps scholarships for all teams. Make a donation today and help your team earn up to $4,000. Giving pages for each team are listed in the link above or go to www.uncgspartans.com/alumnichallenge.
The True Spartan Challenge: Alumni Edition runs through June 14.
This year, women's tennis (26 donors) just nudged out softball by one donor to finish first, and women's tennis won on the percentage side. Men's golf swept both categories with 49 donors and 32.03%, most of any male or female team.
