Link, Delaney Earn All-Conference Honors; Women Place Fifth at SoCon Championship

Chattanooga, Tenn. – Senior Katherine Link (Avon Lake, Ohio/Avon Lake) finished seventh overall with a time of 17:14.78 at the Southern Conference Championships Saturday morning at Camp Jordan in Chattanooga, Tenn. She earned All-SoCon First team honors while helping her team to a fifth place finish in the league.

Joining Link in the top-14 earning SoCon honors was Freshman Taylor Delaney (Hope Mills, N.C./Southview). Delaney placed 11th overall earning Second Team accolades while finishing as one of the top freshman in the league also making the SoCon All-Freshman Team. Delaney finished the 5,000-meter course in a time of 17:42.05.

Kaitlyn Stone (Winston-Salem, N.C./West Stokes) finished 44th overall with a time of 18:52.77 while Sarah DeSantis (Hope Mills, N.C./Southview) and Katlyn Adkins (Fayetteville, N.C./Terry Sanford) rounded out the top-5 for UNCG.

As a unit, UNCG finished fifth overall with 171 points, typing Wofford but edging the Terriers with a team average of 18:43.64.

Furman’s women’s team repeated as SoCon Champions with a team total of 22 points while Samford’s Karisa Nelson won the overall title.

This marks the second consecutive season the Spartans have landed runners on both the All-Conference team and All-Freshman team.
