Charleston, S.C. – Freshman Cienna Rideout (Henderson, Nev./Coronado) recorded the first multi-goal game of her career Friday afternoon with a pair of goals in UNCG’s 3-1 win over The Citadel. The Spartans improve to 3-2-1 in the Southern Conference and 6-8-2 overall.
After a scoreless first half, Georgia Brown (Queenstown, New Zealand/St. Hilda’s Collegiate) put the Spartans on the board in the 48th minute when she received a pass from Diarra Simmons (Toronto, Ontario/Dayton) and beat out The Citadel’s goalkeeper.
A minute and a half later The Citadel’s Carolina Cashion evened the match with a long shot taken outside the box.
In the 69th minute Rideout scored her first of two goals on a pass from Melissa Canizalez (Las Vegas, Nev./New Mexico State). It marked the second consecutive match in which Canizalez dished an assist.
With less than two minutes to play, Rideout found the back of the net again. This time, she was fed a pass by sophomore Caylin Prillaman (High Point, N.C./Wesleyan Christian Academy).
