JUNIOR (2019): Posted five single wins and nine doubles wins over the course of the slate … earned three of his singles victories as the No. 5 seed and two as UNCG’s No. 6 seed … all eight doubles victories came alongside teammate Hugh Knapp … earned his first singles win of the season at Gardner-Webb when he downed Joahn Fors (6-3, 7-5) … followed that with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over William Karpinski (James Madison) on March 3 … picked up his fourth win of the season versus Jonathan Bedard (Presbyterian) by scores of 6-2, 6-3 … capped off march with back-to-back wins against Afonso Viana (Appalachian State) and Max Rebol (Samford) … teamed with Knapp to down Sebastian Harris / Bonaventura Durall (Gardner-Webb) by a 6-4 score on Feb. 25 … claimed the first of six March doubles wins on March 3 when he and Knapp took down Tate Steinour / Paul Mendoza (James Madison) by a 7-6 (3-0) margin … enjoyed the first three-match winning streak of the season in doubles play as he and Knapp downed Phillip Quinn / Noah Nawabi (The Citadel) by a 6-1 margin … followed with a 6-3 victory against Daiki Tanabe / Gonzalo Achondo (Coastal Carolina) on March 9 … claimed a 5-4 win over Mieszko Kwasniewski / Chung-Han Tsai (Southern Miss) on March 14 … earned a 6-3 win over the duo of Jaime Castillo-Lopez / Max Benson (Presbyterian) … ended March with a 6-2 triumph over Rossouw Norval / Daniel Orlita (Samford) … fought past Stathis Tsiranidis / David Georgadze (Mercer) to earn a 6-4 victory … wrapped up the final doubles win of the season on April 10 at Davidson by virtue of a 6-4 win over Yash Parikh / Alexander Loope.
SOPHOMORE (2018): Notched a pair of wins in the Spartan Fall Invitational, defeating UNC Asheville’s Edward Colclough, and Elon’s Jacob Bicknell … teamed up with Ian Melnik to defeat Elon’s Felipe Osses-Konig and Neal Port at the Spartan Fall Invitational … has earned two doubles wins when partnered with Ollie Palmer, defeating UNC Asheville’s Olly Cull and Edward Colclough and East Carolina’s Freddie McGeehan and Kasey Countee ... finished the singles spring season 12-4 and 4-1 in Southern Conference matches competing at No. 6 … went 9-10 in doubles play, partnering with Marcus Vidgren, Nico Grewe and Ollie Palmer … won his first four matches of the season, defeating opponents from Presbyterian (Jan. 28), Campbell (Feb. 9), Gardner-Webb (Feb. 11) and Winthrop (Feb. 17) … defeated Samford’s Hugo Moreira in three sets (Mar. 12) … earned a straight-set win over Bryant’s Tren Massam (Mar. 17) … notched a straight-set win over Furman’s Daniel Vishnick (Mar. 30) … closed the season by winning the final five matches, four of which went into three sets … defeated Wofford’s Kyle Barr (Apr. 10), Chattanooga’s Paul LaHue (Apr. 14) and Samford’s Max Rebol (Apr. 20) to close the SoCon season.
FRESHMAN (2017): Second Team All-Southern Conference doubles team… Competed in 20 singles matches and 23 doubles matches, partnering with William Albright and Marcus Vidgren at No. 2 doubles… Went 6-14 in singles play and added three SoCon victories… Defeated Chattanooga's Austin Boaz (Mar. 5), The Citadel's Roy Hobson (Mar. 28) in straight sets… Notched a three-set victory over Wofford's Kyle Barr (Apr. 15)… Went 10-5 in doubles play with Marcus Vidgren, including a perfect 6-0 in SoCon play… Won six of the last eight doubles matches… Defeated David Biosca and Juan Lugo of ETSU (Mar. 19), Fernando Guardia and Nicolas Guillon of Mercer (Mar 26), The Citadel's W. Jacobus von Zyl and Noah Nawabi (Mar. 28), Cameron Green and Alex Steryous of Furman (Apr. 7), Samford's Curran Verma and Max Rebol (Apr. 9), and Wofford's Patrick Longest and Andrew Graham (Apr. 15) in the regular season… Also defeated Andrew Graham and Patrick Longest in the first round of the Southern Conference Tournament (Apr. 21).
PREP: Jack Burkill joins UNCG after a decorated career in London, England ... Burkill won the Independent Schools Tennis Association National runners-up in 2015 … reached finals in five consecutive years competing at Bedes and Millfield Schools … named a team captain in 2014 while competing at Bedes… has represented Sussex County since age 10, playing in the County Cup and on other county competitions … won the Sussex County Cup for the U16 singles, U18 singles, and U18 doubles at the age of 15 … won three ITF doubles titles and one runner-up title during the summer of 2015 … ranked in the Top 20 of United Kingdom competitors … earned the Brian Edwards Memorial Cup for the best tennis team member in the U18 County Cup at the age of 16.
PERSONAL: Burkill hails from London, United Kingdom and is the son of Nicholas and Sharon Burkill … has one sister, Charlotte ... majoring in business administration.
