GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG junior women's golfer Emily Kurey (Alpharetta, Ga./Louisville) highlighted the Spartans on day two of the prestigious Bryan National Collegiate Saturday. The Spartans are co-hosting the event with Wake Forest, at the 6,386-yard par-72 Bryan Park Champions Course. The third and final round will be played Sunday with a shotgun start set for 8:30 a.m. with UNCG on holes No. 13-15. Live scoring available via www.golfstatresults.com.

The challenging field includes 10 teams ranked in the top 50, including two top 25 teams. Joining the Spartans in the field include No. 20 Virginia, No. 21 Florida State, No. 28 East Carolina, No. 30 South Carolina, No. 31 NC State, No. 37 Miami, No. 38 Notre Dame, No. 45 North Carolina, No. 48 Michigan, No. 49 Wake Forest, No. 65 UCF, No. 79 Kentucky, No. 87 Penn Stat and Cal State Fullerton.

Kurey led the Spartans in round two with a team-best 3-over par 75 as she posted three birdies on the afternoon and nine par scores. She sits in a tie for 63^rd place overall with a 16-over par 160 (85-75). The Spartans as a team are in 15^th place overall after improving their team score nine strokes in round two. UNCG is 67-over par 643 after posting rounds of 326 and 317.

“Today was a good day to be on the course,” Kurey said. “The wind provided a challenge and it was fun to play in. It was awesome having so many people out there supporting UNCG and we can't wait to play tomorrow. This course requires you to play one shot at a time and play to the middle of the greens. We can't wait to tee it up for the final round tomorrow.”

No. 20 Virginia holds the overall lead at 8-over par 584 as the Cavaliers posted rounds of 289 and 295. Matlida Castren of Florida State is the only individual golfer under par after 36 holes. Castren is 2-under par 142 after posting back-to-back rounds of 71.

Redshirt freshman Savanna Mackie (Greensboro, N.C./Appalachian State) is also tied for 63^rd overall with a 16-over par 160. Mackie has recorded back-to-back rounds of 8-over par 80 to begin the weekend. Junior Maddi MacClurg (Cary, N.C./Green Hope) continued her solid play and sits in 76^th place overall with a 20-over par 164 (83-81).

Sophomore Lexi Kershaw (Winston-Salem, N.C./Catawba) is tied for 77^th overall with a 21-over par 165. Kershaw improved three strokes in round two with an 81 score after posting an 84 in round one. Junior Kristin Powers (Pittsford, N.Y./Pittsford Mendon) rounds out the lineup in 79^th place with a 23-over par 167 (79-88).
