The mission of the Spartan Club is to secure the financial
support that provides our student-athletes with the opportunities
to achieve academic and athletic excellence. As a non-profit
organization the Spartan Club supports over 218 male and female
student-athletes who compete in 17 varsity sports at the Division I
Throughout the year the Spartan Club and all of our varsity
teams host special events and hospitality gatherings to promote
interest in our program, and to provide member engagement with our
student-athletes and coaches. The primary focus of the Spartan
Club’s fundraising efforts is to grow the resources available
for athletic scholarships. These scholarship funds go directly to
meet the needs of deserving student-athletes.

Registration Now Open For Spartan Club Golf Classic April 25
The UNCG Spartan Club will host its 22nd annual Spartan Club Golf Classic Thursday, April 25 at the Greensboro Country Club Farm Course. Head men’s basketball coach Wes Miller, men’s golf coach Terrance Stewart, women’s golf coach Sarah Sargent and other UNCG coaches and student-athletes will be on hand for a great day on the course.
UNCG Announces Spartan Club Priority Point System
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG Spartan Club announced the implementation of a Priority Points System Friday to create a fair and equitable process for handling future season ticket sales and postseason/road game ticket sales for men’s and women’s basketball.
Spartan Club Exceeds Annual Scholarship Goal For 2011-12
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG Spartan Club, the official fundraising organization for UNCG Athletics, surpassed its annual scholarship fund goal of $300,000 for the 2012 fiscal year and set a new all-time record for the scholarship fund. The Spartan Club posted an annual scholarship fund total of $307,479, a 20.7% increase over last year’s total, increasing their efforts by over $50,000 and surpassing the previous high that was set in 1987.
Jim and Betty Allen earn SoCon Distinguished Service Award
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – UNCG supporters Jim and Betty Allen have been announced as recipients of the Southern Conference’s Distinguished Service Award for 2012. They, along with honorees from the 11 other league schools, will be honored at the Southern Conference Honors Dinner in Asheville, N.C., on Wednesday.
Shipman, Guensch, Carter join women's basketball staff
GREENSBORO, N.C. – UNCG has added three new assistant coaches to its women’s basketball staff, head coach Wendy Palmer announced Tuesday. Latasha Shipman, Darren Guensch and LaToya Carter will all join the Spartan staff.
UNCG recognizes student-athletes at annual Senior Banquet
GREENSBORO, N.C. – The UNCG Department of Athletics recently recognized its student-athletes at the UNCG Senior Banquet at the Sheraton Greensboro at Four Seasons. Men’s cross country and track athlete Joey Thompson and women’s soccer goalkeeper Kelsey Kearney earned UNCG’s male and female Spartan Awards.

You can call Fanny Cnops a 4-percenter. And unless you somehow disapprove of excellence, that’s not a knock. According to the comprehensive rankings of Golfweek, the UNCG Spartan from Gent, Belgium, is among the top 4 percent of all players in NCAA women’s golf, and she’s doing it as a freshman. In the process, she has become the first Spartan to qualify for an NCAA regional as an individual in nine years.

Q&A with UNCG men's basketball coach Wes Miller
In less than four months, Wes Miller has gone from a relatively unknown assistant coach to the youngest leader of an NCAA Division I program. That designation has since disappeared – somebody else hired somebody younger – but Miller, 29, is sticking around UNCG and generating considerable offseason interest in the Spartan program. He even has his own bobblehead, a perk for those who put down 2012-13 season-ticket deposits by the end of this month.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – UNCG sophomore Paul Chelimo came in 13th place to become the first runner in school history to earn All-America honors on Monday afternoon at the NCAA Championship on the Gibson Championship Course.
